Many cosmetic surgery procedures are very popular today. Among the top procedures performed in the last year are liposuction, nose surgery and breast augmentation. Each surgery has its own unique risks and benefits, and how well someone recovers from a specific procedure depends on many different factors. Recovery is a very serious issue for cosmetic surgery, and it is one of the things people ask about first when they consider a procedure. The other common question is how much the procedure will cost them. Since costs and recovery periods are the prime considerations, people should address them before they have any cosmetic procedures done.
The Costs and Recovery Period of Liposuction
The cost of liposuction can vary, depending on how much is done, so there is really no way to give a specific price. While the cost could be relatively low, it could also run into the tens of thousands of dollars. Total recovery usually takes four to six weeks, but the recovery periods do vary. The swelling and a lot of the soreness will go away in a few days, and a compression garment is worn under one’s clothing so that the incision and the tenderness of the skin is kept protected. This helps to reduce the chance of having any kind of complications. Work can be resumed in less than a week if a person has a relatively sedentary job, but anything strenuous should be avoided until the doctor says that it is all right to resume it.
The Costs and Recovery Period of Nose Surgery
Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, has a relatively fast recovery period. In addition, it is one of the most affordable procedures. The cost does vary some, based on the area of the country and the surgeon involved. Most rhinoplasties, however, can be completed for between $3,000 and $4,000. Many people who want to have a cosmetic procedure can afford this, because it is considerably less than some of the more complex procedures. The recovery period is usually not bad for most people. There will be some pain in the first day or two, but after that, there will be mostly just some feelings of stiffness and pressure. Most work of a sedentary nature can be resumed after only a few days, as well. Overall, it can take about a month for a person to be back to normal.
The Costs and Recovery Period of Breast Augmentation
The cost of a breast augmentation is surprisingly low — usually under $5,000 for many doctors and areas of the country. Naturally, however, there are places where it costs more and places where it costs less. The main issue with breast augmentation is the recovery period. This can vary quite a lot based on the person, the size of the implants and the placement of them. Due to this, it is difficult to determine exactly how long recovery will take. Usually, individuals who receive breast augmentation can expect to have a recovery period of one to two months. For the first few days, activities are greatly restricted. After about a week, some basic activities can be resumed, but nothing strenuous should be attempted until the person’s doctor agrees to it.
No matter what procedure a person chooses, there are both risks and benefits. Due to this, a person should make sure that he or she feels comfortable with the surgeon.
